Col. Ariel Querubin to run as Senator in 2010

In a message I received in Facebook from the group and account of Col. Ariel Querubin, Col. Ariel Querubin manifested his desire to become a Senator of the Philippines come the 2010 elections. His announcement might come as other members of the Magdalo group and reform group is more or less preparing to run as well like Danilo Lim who is part of the Manila Peninsula siege together with Sen. Antonio Trillanes. However, the danger is that though Trillanes win in 2007 the public's perception might had been not as receptive as before when they voted for Trillanes. People might be thinking that these so called reform soldiers are all talk after all since Trillanes himself is not able to produce anything as a senator but then again his restriction might be the cause. How can a convicted man who is not allowed to do anything be even able to accomplish his plans added to that is the rotten political system that we have.

Would I vote for Querubin? well it depends on his platform and his real ability to make a difference. One further hope I have is that people like him will work together with a presidential candidate that has at least a common purpose of making this country better and one presidential candidate would be Nicanor "Nick" Perlas.

A Video made as a Tribute to Querubin by one of his supporter

Here is Querubin's letter sent via Facebook.

May the Peace of Christ be with you!

I have no doubt in my mind that the Lord has all the while been preparing me for public service. I was left for dead in 1989, and He allowed me to spring back to life. I have been imprisoned as a soldier, but I fully regained the honor and right to wear a soldier’s uniform after having been awarded the Medal of Valor in 2001. As my military career was very much back on track, I was again challenged to choose between right and wrong, between honor and injustice, between good and evil.

Even as we all work for a vibrant and prosperous Philippines, my dream is for every Filipino to enjoy the essence of freedom from poverty, fear, and injustice, to feel the tangible benefits of good governance, and to live comfortably in a society that fosters the unity of the family, protects human rights, and upholds the dignity of all.

I have not had an easy life. My life story has been replete with vivid encounters with injustice poverty, corruption, and war. These painful experiences have shaped this dream. I never succumbed to the lure of material wealth. The physical, mental, and emotional hardships have been painful, but I never sold my soul.

I am fully aware that some people would insist that men in uniform should stay away from politics; that we would serve best our nation if we were fighting wars in Mindanao; that we have no business in meddling with the affairs of the state as we have been formed and trained in the rudiments of war, and not in the civil service, much less in politics. I agree but that assumes that the people who have been entrusted with the public trust have been sincere, honest, and have been true to their pledges.

As a young soldier, armed with idealism and the fire of youth, I have offered my life to defend this country from ALL its enemies. I have suffered long and hard for the principles that I hold dearly. Many of my loved ones have suffered with me – maybe not physically, but certainly have shared in the misery and hardships that I have endured. The fire of idealism still burns in me, but I have been wiser not to engage fire with fire.

With a lot of circumspection, I have decided to run for the senate in 2010. I have no political pedigree. I have no political machinery. I have no financial resources. But I do have honor. I do have principles. I do have courage.

I believe I am ready to take on this new role, with your prayers and support this dream is not too far- fetched. It takes the collective effort of every member of this society to make things improve for a country in disarray... a country that has been plundered... a country whose hope is running dry...

All I can do, on my end, is to make the best effort possible to make society better, stand by my principles, and fight for what is right. There is hope for this country and our people, all we have to do is believe.

This I will do, if not for myself and our generation, then at least for our young children and their children. My warmest personal regards and God bless us all.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

Sincerely yours,

Kindly send this to all your relatives and friends if you believe in my cause. Thanks

  1. my whole family will definitely vote and support col querubin. we will not just vote, we will campaign to all our loved ones and friends. he has the vision of a good country and we will need his character and will in the senate. we need a good catholic christian leader who proved his worth as a soldier of the philippines

  2. we have to campaign hard for col querubin so he can make it just like Sen Trillanes.

  3. wag lang bumoto dapat tayo mismo ang magkampanya para manalo siya sa senado numero uno sa balota ko si Querubin.

  4. I hope that these forces can really unite and get their acts together. I hope that you can also support Nicanor Perlas for President... I will try and see what is Querubin's platform and assess and then not only vote but also campaign for him.

  5. from what i heard in the news, his plattform is anti corruption through strenghtening the criminal justice system and punishing those found to be corrupt, and by educating the people esp the youth as to why corruption is evil and what it does to society. the second, i hear, is the strengthening of the defense reform program, to make sure our military and police and their families are given the welfare benefits they deserve, and that such system of benefits could also redound to the rest of philippine society. okay yung program niya, short, simple and doable. he does not promise the world, but he intends to fulfill the said programs and make sure its impact is felt by many. thats why im really convinced he will make a good senator.

  6. Sounds good and indeed doable... but this cannot be done by just making Querubin win... it should be done by electing other people who can help with this platform. That is why we should campaign for the change makers and the real moral force in our political system... I believe that people like Nicanor Perlas, Kaka Bag-ao, Riza Baraquel and others will really spell the difference, Ariel Querubin included.

  7. thats true.we have to come up with a good line up. then support the same. Perlas, Kiko Pangilinan, Baraquel, Querubin, Padaca, Panlilio, Robredo, Jun Lozada. This people will spell the difference in 2010. the power is with the people1

  8. Well said indeed... and truly the power should always be within the people... but I hope that this power which our people have will be used for a good purpose.

  9. Gising Juan dela Cruz. Ibuto natin ang katulad ni Col. Querubin.

  10. Unlike the others who posted here, I will not vote for Querubin. He has not shown any ability for the position of Senator. Sure he is a Medal of Valor awardee. But I have yet to see what he has done in terms of legislative work. Maybe if he were running for an executive position I might consider him. But shooting a gun and writing laws are two very different things.

  11. For a more balanced view try this link:

  12. I hope that we get a direct answer from Ariel Querubin on this issues. If he will run as Senator he must face and answer the public. In my blog, "Pagod Ka Na Bang Maging si Juan?" I did not endorse Querubin what I said was, my vote will depend on information about him, his qualifications and his platform.

An objective view sees both the good and the bad and not just swarm a person with his bad side... people can change you know... so let us give him the benefit of the doubt and the chance to answer.

  13. Victorina doesn't have a balance view. They are for "smear campaign" for the good Col. I won't go there for the fact that their accusations are unfounded.
We believe that the likes of Col Querubin is what Phil. needs.

  14. It is still a plus to answer these allegations against Col. Querubin.

  15. the victorina team is a group of mercenaries hired and commissioned by the highest bidder to smear campaign and do black propaganda against enemies of the administration. they are currently smearing the magdalo group, and several other opposition personalities. if you notice, the commenters are done by 2 or 3 people only. these mercenaries are paid hacks.

as for Col Querubin, i suggest he doesnt answer the allegations unless they are based on truth. the allegations are baseless, in fact, intended to make him respond. he should only answer allegations with sound basis rather than answer hecklers.

in our society, there would always be hecklers and paid hacks meant to destroy. but mud can never stick on gold. Col Querubins reputation and medals will prove it all. his family and children, as well..

Mabuhay Col Querubin! let those paid hacks attacking you answer to our God. Our Lord hates gossipers and those who lie about others, especially in exchange for money and in the name of envy.

  16. Col Querubin is a valor awardee, and the most bemedalled in the history of the armed forces. ive been monitoring his career since the 80's and this guy has proven his worth.

the victorina team have been commissioned as a hateblog to destroy, divide and conquer. it should not be given credence. in fact, the people behind it are known "money makers" and propagandists for a price.

Col Querubin should not answer them and stoop to their level. his ratings are going up in the surveys, and he should leave these hate bloggers at that.

only fools will listen to what this hate blogs have to say. after all, the way they treat querubin, is far more worse than how they critic Gloria and her minions.

Shen, i suggest you dont endorse the victorina blog here. you might just get corrupted by their web of lies and intrigue. a very unchristian thing to do.

God hates gossipers and bearers of falsehood and obviously, victorina is up to no good at all.

the balance of view they claim is based on a propagandist style of writing. their blakc propaganda aint gonna work, and as bloggers, we should not allow it to manipulate and control our paradigms on the truth.

  17. i will vote for querubin. number one sa balota ko.

a masters degree holder from the University of Canberra. the most awarded officer in the history of this country. who's love and devotion for his motherland cannot be questioned.

as for his critics, his ratings have no where to go but up. the people behind this hate blog will be exposed soon!!!

  18. victorina is paid group commissioned to destroy the magdalo, ellen tordesillas, col querubin and other enemies of their principal. they pretend to be opposition and all that, but they are MERCENARIES. look at the comments and write ups. style - propaganda. only very corrupt people could destroy the honor of others this way. this group of people are very corrupt indeed. i just read the comments, not even the most evil of people deserve such comments. therefore, i must say, they are commissioned black propagandists. those paid hacks deserve no attention from our people.

  19. Thanks for this detailed reply. I would like really to elicit contrasting comments in this blog so that people can know the truth from what is false... thanks and good luck to the cause of good.

  20. Colonel Ariel Querubin is as true and promising as it can get! Do not fail us Bok!

  21. NP Senatorial bet Ariel Querubin is now facing CRIMINAL charges for mauling a fellow detained soldier at the Armed Forces headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo. Senatorial bet Ariel Querubin and his wife Maria Flor ganged up on Maj. Jason Aquino of the Scout Rangers…
